irony at its best

This story has me annoyed. No, i take that back. I'm not annoyed, I am upset. Here are some choice quotes: "When the homosexual compares himself to the black community, he doesn't know what suffering is."; "To equate a lifestyle choice to racism demeans the work of the entire civil rights movement."

I don't know what the good reverand is referring to as suffering; It could be slavery,  the economic plight of the inner city black community, or even racism. However, whatever way you choose look at it, the sheer audacity of that statement is simply mind numbing. I know that the black community wishes to define certain elements as "theirs", such as rap and hip-hop, but do they really want to claim "suffering" as "theirs"? Was Matthew Shepard not black enough to know suffering? In my mind, this low sense of self and crystallization within the black mind of racism as a black attribute is very self defeating.
