Mac's....

If you're a PC user like me, and been using PC's for as long as you can remember, you probably feel the same way I do towards Mac's. They're slower, dumbed down to the nth degree, and a one button mouse?? Recently however, I got a chance to play around with Tony's new toy; a 12" Mac Laptop.

And well... I'm speechless. Mac designers are quite the geniouses. Not only is their hardware top notch in terms of looks (bording on sexy I say) & quality, but their OSX is absolutely amazing. Their concept of how a GUI should be is years ahead of Microsoft's. The way they manage switching tasks, along with their dock is just downright incredible. If they would release OSX to the PC platform, I'd use it over windows in a heartbeat, but as it stands right now, I'm resorting to y dock & custom visual styles/themes to make my desktop look like a Mac. Its quite the t.t.

Public Service Announcement: Spyware, and browser hijacking

Wow, just wow. I really had no idea just how obscene spyware has gotten recently. Tonite, I came across this nasty, nasty browser hijacking spyware. It exploits the byteverifier bug in MS Java VM, and embeds itself DEEP into windows, and I mean deep. The end result was that anytime I searched in google, every other search results link was appended so that if you clicked on it, it would redirect you to the spyware search engine. After 2 hours of trying to figure out just wtf was going on, I finally found a fix for it. I used a combination of HijackThis and CWShredder to get rid of it (AdWare does not work). More info on just how far the spyware imbeds itself can be found here. Theres some 30 variants of this with different symptoms, but they're all a bitch to remove. t.t

ps. Don't use HiJackThis if you don't know what you're doing.
